David’s career with Health Carousel reflects steady growth and a strong commitment to supporting patients and fellow nurses. Since starting his journey in 2022, his leadership and advocacy have made a lasting impact well beyond the unit where he works.

From Arrival to Leadership

‍

David started his first assignment with Health Carousel in late August 2022. It quickly became clear that he brought more than strong clinical skills.

‍

Midway through his first assignment, David was promoted from staff nurse to Clinical Supervisor on his unit. He earned this well-deserved promotion through his calm approach and willingness to support others.

‍

When the assignment ended, the facility asked him to stay. David chose to continue working there while remaining with Health Carousel. What began as an assignment turned into a long-term role built on trust.

‍

A Trusted Presence for Nurses and Patients

‍

Since stepping into his leadership role, David has become someone the nurses on his unit can count on. His colleagues come to him when they have challenges and need guidance when they have a problem.

‍

One of David’s most important leadership qualities is that he listens first. He takes concerns seriously and works toward solutions that support nurses and that will provide patients with better care.

‍

David’s impact reaches beyond the hospital. As he settled into the community, he became a trusted person for many PassportUSA nurses when they arrive in the United States. This is a life-changing event and can be overwhelming. David is there to help ease this transition for them. They know they can come to him when they have questions about the facility and adjusting to this brand new environment.

‍

Advocacy That Leads to Change

‍

During facility town halls, he speaks up to address any concerns that he may notice. This may seem like a standard thing to do, however it’s more than that. By doing so, this resulted in other nurses feeling more comfortable speaking up if they ever notice anything or just want to give their thoughts.

‍

This small thing has led to positive results. Feedback was heard and changes were made that improved the nurses experience and strengthened patient care.

‍

Supporting Those Just Beginning Their Journey

‍

In 2024, David was one of the most active Health Carousel Arrival Ambassadors. These are international nurses who live in the surrounding areas and volunteer to help new nurses adjust to life in the United States.

‍

David was often one of the first people new nurses connected with after arriving. Having gone through the transition himself, he understood the questions and concerns that come with starting over in a new country. He made time to check in, share guidance, and help others feel supported as they settled into their roles and their new community.

‍

For many nurses, that early support made a meaningful difference. David’s presence helped build confidence and reassurance during an important transition.

‍

Continuing to Build What Comes Next

‍

David has always been focused on growth. While working full time, he completed his bachelor’s degree and later chose to continue his education. Today, he is pursuing his master’s degree while continuing his work with Health Carousel.

‍

Reflecting on his Hall of Fame recognition, David shared, “This award means my work is making a meaningful difference and that I have earned the respect of my peers. It encourages me to keep going and continue striving to do more.”

‍

When asked what advice he would give to nurses just getting started, he said, “It takes courage and determination. Set your personal goals and stay committed to them, no matter what challenges come your way.”
