All Summer Health Carousel Gives Back

July marks the second month of the annual Health Carousel Summer Olympics. With our #HCGivesBack volunteer month, we are shifting the focus from ourselves to giving back to our community. Each internal team is encouraged to organize and participate in different volunteer opportunities like charity races, golf tournaments, soup kitchens, donating blood, donating clothing and other items. We all live very busy lives, juggling many different schedules with work and family and we don’t want this to be a burden. But we encourage employees to think of fun ways they can get their team, family and friends involved in giving back to our wonderful community! And our employees are already getting into the spirit of giving. Here's a piece from our own Chanelle Coulon on how she's already started giving back!‍

From Chanelle: Wekiva Youth Camp‍

A residential nature camp for 3rd through 8th graders, sponsored by the FFGC with the purpose of instilling a love and respect for our natural environment. The goal is educating the youth on the importance of protecting our environment and how they can make a difference and share their knowledge. The main goal is to have fun.  But to me, it means so much more. It has been my getaway for the last 13 summers. I started as a camper and fell in love with going every summer meeting up with my camp friends again. My parents got divorced when I was 15 and that was the first summer I was a counselor. Being there brought me the joy and freedom I needed. Since then, I have learned leadership, patience, and how to interact with people from all walks of life.  My camp friends are not people I would normally create friendships with but the love we have for the camp is unbreakable. Every summer I leave there I have learned something different about myself whether it is from my interaction with the campers, other counselors, or volunteers.  It is crazy with the state of Orlando right now I was so happy to be there this past week. The opportunity to change a life and spread love is the small thing I can do to make this world just a little better.
