Pillar Award for Community Service Award Winner

December 13, 2021

We are proud and humbled to announce that Health Carousel is a THREE-PEAT winner of the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service in Cincinnati! This award comes after a great year of new signature programs and commitments by our individuals and teams to deliver more of an impact in our communities than ever before.

The Pillar Award embraces a broad definition of community service. It may consist of charitable giving, volunteerism, pro bono work, or other forms of giving back. Service may be limited to a single organization or cause, or spread across numerous organizations and causes. Each nominee is judged based on impact relative to its size rather than overall size of contribution or effort.

Health Carousel’s #HCGivesBack program encompasses four main areas of giving back: Philanthropy, Diversity and Inclusion with an emphasis on Health Equity, Employee Well-being, and Recognition.

We also choose signature initiatives and opportunities each year that align with this higher purpose, infusing our values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, and service into our support for our communities through: Charitable Giving, Corporate Sponsorships, In-kind Donations, Employee Volunteerism, and Board Service.

This year, we made a commitment to go the extra mile and do the right thing by focusing on two aspects: 1: Increasing health equity in our communities, and 2: Connecting our employees with more potential opportunities for impact than ever before!

Health Carousel's Signature Programs in 2021:

Fighting Cancer in the Fall & the FUNdraising Raffle - We raised $20,000 benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Mary Grace Memorial Foundation!

Blood Donations - Through our strategic partnerships with Hoxworth Blood Centers and the American Red Cross, Health Carousel employees donated blood, platelets, and money to save lives across our community.

DePaul Cristo Rey Work Study Program - We welcomed four DePaul Cristo Rey High School students as part of their 2021-2022 school year work study program to introduce them to several aspects of our high- growth, high- achievement culture and enhance their business skills through experience in a specific department.

PPUSA Conversation Partners Program - Through our PassportUSA line of business, Conversation Partners is a volunteer program that pairs international healthcare candidates with employees from Health Carousel as candidates work to enhance their English skills before taking the IELTS English proficiency exam.

...and these just scratch the surface of what our employees were able to do!

Through 2021, Health Carousel employees have:

Volunteered 825 hours

Donated blood 55 times to save up to 165 lives

Donated $25,000 (personally) and $40,000 (from Health Carousel) to increase health equity in our communities.
