Next Medical Staffing Named as one of Dayton's Best Places to Work

March 24, 2017

Next Medical Staffing has officially been named as one of the Dayton Business Journal's Best Places to Work! The Dayton-based travel nursing company – part of the Health Carousel family of brands – was one of 44 finalists named this year. Here are just a few of the things that make Next Medical Staffing one of the Best Places to Work!

1) Tell me what you love most about working at your company – whether it is the benefits, the people you work with, the hours, it is up to you!

We practice what we preach: #LoveWhatYouDo. ‘Find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life,’ looks great in a meme but it feels even better when you live it! At Next Medical Staffing, Health Carousel’s Dayton office, we are caregivers for caregivers which means that everyone in our company is connected and committed to improving the lives of healthcare providers and impacting the local communities in which we live, work, and play. When you can feel that impact in what you do every day, it is hard not to love what you do!

2) What do you think made your company stand out from other companies as one of the best places to work?

Our Achieve More, Live More culture is definitely our “secret sauce”. Our employees succeed personally and professionally because we offer them the training, career opportunities and work/life balance to reach their potential. Our office is preparing to move to Austin Landing, which will be a modern, spacious environment with state-of-the-art technology (there are rumors of treadmill desks)! All of our employees are offered platinum-level healthcare benefits, company cell phones, casual dress code and flexible hours.

3) Is there anything that is especially unique about how employees interact (holiday parties, traditions, group outings, etc.)?

The words “coffee” and “ice cream” are not tossed around loosely in our office.  We take our coffee, ice cream socials, cookouts, Dragons games, happy hours, go-kart races, summer olympic games, and gaming tournaments very seriously.   We strive for excellence every day and our perks makes us all feel engaged, motivated and appreciated.

4) What is one positive thing that comes to mind first when you think about where you work? Is the environment especially nice to work in? Do you have an outdoor area for lunch breaks in good weather? Do you have complimentary coffee? Or maybe you get holiday breaks?

The most positive thing is the people we work with.  You get to wake up each day and come to work with people who inspire you, encourage you and support you through all your hard work.

5) About how many employees work at the company in total and/or in the Dayton area?

We currently employ almost 300 employees throughout the Dayton, Columbus, and the Greater Cincinnati area, and about 50 of those employees work right here in Dayton. We are growing exponentially and our Dayton office will be moving to a beautiful new state-of-the-art facility at the popular Austin Landing later this year. We are looking to add another 40 jobs in Dayton this year.

6) Does the company contribute to any charitable organizations or community outreach programs?

Amidst a growing nursing shortage, our employees are integral to our mission of providing quality healthcare professionals to organizations throughout our local and national communities. Our purpose connects us to something bigger, something we take pride in, knowing that we are making a difference and adding value to another person in need.  Beyond this, we encourage our employees to give what they can of their time, talent, and treasure through toy and clothing donations, blood drives, volunteer hours, charity events and monetary donations. This summer, here in Dayton, we participated in the Shoes4Shoeless event, donating over 3000 pairs of socks and gym shoes that help support the Shoes 4 the Shoeless mission to improve the lives of local children and “eliminate one of poverty’s most visible stigmas.”

7) What’s one thing that no one would expect to know about your company – do your co-workers have a great sense of humor? Do the executives communicate regularly with other members of staff?

Our executives have been known to challenge our employees to races on an inflatable obstacle course… and yes… there IS video!

8) Anything you want to highlight about the company, please do!

We are hiring 150+ people in the next year! We have amazing opportunities in Sales and Recruiting as well as Finance, IT, HR, and Marketing. Our extraordinary growth is largely fueled by our people and our culture. We provide all the training and tools to get started in a rewarding and professionally satisfying career.  Our fast growth allows high performers quick advancement into leadership positions. In addition to on-going training, development, and mentorship, we offer employees broadening experiences to learn more about how our company and industry works to boost skill development. We provide platinum-level healthcare benefits, generous PTO, and free in-office wellness check-ups and flu shots.  We encourage and include family and friends’ participation in various local events (Dayton Air Force Marathon, Turkey Trot) and sport leagues (volleyball and softball).
