Health Carousel Co-Founders Win 2018 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award

The EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award honors entrepreneurs whose boldness drives them to do things differently and change our world in unexpected ways. Health Carousel founders Bill DeVille (CEO), Lair Kennedy (Chairman), and Ty Nelson (President) recently won this prestigious award in the EY East Central region.

The trio founded Health Carousel in 2004 with a vision to build a company that could ensure that U.S. patients have access to qualified healthcare professionals when and where they need them. The leaders developed service lines that helped U.S. healthcare organizations address their short-term and long-term workforce challenges. Today, Health Carousel operates the leading international healthcare staffing business (PassportUSA), a master supplier in the nurse travel staffing business (Health Carousel Travel Network), one of the top locum tenens companies (NEXTLocums), and is ranked as one of the 20 largest healthcare staffing companies in the U.S.Health Carousel has enjoyed a great deal of positive recognition, having been named to the Top 10 Fastest-Growing U.S. Staffing Firms list and the Fast 55 Fastest-Growing Companies in Cincinnati list in back-to-back years (2016 and 2017). The company has also been recognized as a Best Places To Work in back-to-back years (2016 and 2017).

This growth has been made possible through the co-founders' strategic planning and decision to prioritize growth. In addition to 50% (or higher) annual growth organically, Health Carousel has acquired two companies in the past three years. While operating with a higher purpose in mind has always been at the heart of the co-founders' vision, in 2017, they officially established Health Carousel’s higher purpose: Improve lives and make healthcare work better. In 2017, it’s estimated the work of Health Carousel improved the care of over 1 million patients across the U.S.

The company currently employees more than 1,600 healthcare professionals and 450 internal employees.
